A few of us from the musuem were able to attend a Disaster Preparedness and Response Planning Workshop today at the Laramie Plains Museum in Laramie, presented by the Wyoming Museum Training Network and funded in part by the Wyoming Cultural Trust. We discussed planning for disasters, working with first responders, insurance, and a wide range of related topics. It was a great opportunity for our small museum to learn more about what we can do to protect ourselves, our volunteers, and our collections. Special thanks to Commander Mitch Cushman from the Laramie Police Department, Bill Bershinsky from the Laramie Fire Department, and Rick Jansen, the Albany County Emergency Management Coordinator for their participation and presentations. We have lots more to do . . .
The workshop continues tomorrow, when the fire department will be training on the use of fire extinguishers and presenting a live fire demo. Fun stuff!
